Busy Week
Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great week! I would like to apologize for my blog entries not posting as scheduled. We were having technical difficulties. Not to worry, everything should be fixed and from here on out blogs should post as scheduled.
I got a lot accomplished this week at YCP. I met with Dean Merkle (along with three other campus ambassadors) to discuss a student panel event that was held this past Saturday. I really enjoy participating in question and answer sessions with prospective students and parents. The event was for the Trustee Scholarship selection process. After students and parents spent the morning in various information sessions, the campus ambassadors were able to answer any questions that parents might have about the campus and student life. We also had very nice lunch in Johnson Dining Hall. I sat with a delightful family from Maryland. As we ate lunch, I was able to talk with them about my college experiences and what to expect as an incoming student.
I also had a great tour this week! I was really able to connect with the families that were visiting the YCP campus. Each family had a number of questions, which always makes the tour more interesting. I know visiting potential schools and deciding on what major is going to suit you best for a life long career can be a very difficult time for students. Giving tours is a way that I can help ease any worries for prospective students by letting them know that I was in their shoes not so long ago. Tours are also a great time for parents to ask any questions they might have about their son/daughter coming to York College. Not only is this an adjustment period for the students but for the parents as well!
This week I also had my presentation in The Family class. Because I spent suitable amount of time preparing the material, I had a thorough understanding of the topic. Accordingly the presentation went smoothly and everyone in my group did a great job!
In the upcoming week I have a lot to accomplish (including scheduling classes for the Fall 2007 semester)! I will keep you posted on how everything goes! I hope everyone has a great week! Talk to you next time!
