Answer to your question...

I got a comment two posts below asking about double majoring and living in a suite, so I figured I'd answer with another entry!

As far as double-majoring goes, because my majors are so different very few classes cross over. For instance, if someone double majored in Environmental Science and Marine Biology, as a lot of people do up here, there would be science courses that would count for both majors. In English and Environmental Studies only a few courses count towards both majors, and most of those are just core courses for the college.

Translation: I have very few electives.

I'm doing fairly well on my requirements because I transferred in either 10 or 14 AP exam credits (I forget which). That basically knocked a semester of core requirements off my list. If I were a single major, that would mean I could get into advanced courses ASAP instead of being stuck in requirements. For me, it means that I'm going to have no problem completing my double major in four years.

Teachers here are very open to interdisciplinary studies, so if you have a funky double major you want and UNE offers both chances are your advisors and department chairs will do everything they can to help you meet all the requirements. They certainly won't say no to a wierd combination, unlike most schools I looked at attending.

As far as living in a suite goes...

It's distracting. Chaotic. Fun.

Annoying if the trash starts to smell and everyone keeps forgetting to take it out.

Alone time, for studying or relaxing, does NOT exist unless you notify everyone in the suite to leave you alone and post a sign on your door. At least, that's my experience. All my suitemates are really good friends, so the situation could be unique to us.

I've got to go attack my mountain of homework while the rest of my suitemates are in class...

Have a good day!

Thanks so much Sarah for answering my questions, WOW you covered alot, I'm not interested in a double major but that is really good info about it. And I loved your pictures, they are very nice. Have a great day!

Sarah, I can't wait for your next installment. I hope this was a good week for you. And I hope everyone took out the trash when it was their turn!
