University of New England: Jessica Oliveira

I hope everyone has a SUPA DUPA Halloween today!!! Wasnt planning on going trick or treating but ended up going anyways with a small group in a nice neighborhood in Saco which is the next town over from Biddeford. We went at 7:30ish so we werent out that long cause people were kinda tired of seeing trick or treaters at 7:30! So if you ever decide to go, go at 5 cause no one wants to see your face at 7:30!! But it was a good time. Brought back so many good memories. : )
On Saturday, the campus had the Halloween rave, just another name for a dance. I, myself, absolutely LOVE dances!! Im usually the idiot thats usually dancing like a fool but doesnt care what they look like cause they're having the greatest time!!!! The best part was we got to dress up!!!!!! The last time I went to a dance where we were allowed to wear costumes was probably in elementary school!!! (Oh, good times at wood!) So I had mom mail up my Mary Catherine Gallagher costume from last year.. those of you who dont know who that is.. it is the girl from the movie superstar that sniffs her armpits and everything.

Some of my friends went in their wetsuits and went as scuba divers..

My boyfriend went as Tigger.. yes so adorable!!! and yes, we were watching fairly oddparents!!!

Overall, it was a hell of a time!!!

If anyone cares about how school itself has been. Ok, same old. Chem sucks. Been kinda crazy again, Its exam/paper season #2. blahh..
But those going to college and is a little nervous, dont be. Ya, its more work but its do-able.

Because nothing exciting ever happens during the week with classes, I shall talk about my exciting weekend!! Friday night, my boyfriend took me to play "bowling". It was definatly candlepin but he argues that its called bowling, I guess thats what they call it up here in maine.. whatever. But it was fun cause the place we went to in Saco had a special bowl called the glow bowl which has bright lights and loud music to bowl too.. it was a good time. Kinda reminded me of the good ol' days at the skating rink.

Saturday I just kinda hung out in the dorm with my 2 good friends HIlary and Marie figuring out gee, what should we do now. Then Hilary comes up with this great idea, LETS GO CLIMB TREES!!! YESS!!!! Excellent idea. So we went off around campus climbing trees.

The best part was that it was Open House so there were a bunch of tours going on with all the prospective students and their families walking around campus.. as we climb trees. So ya, if you were at the Open House and saw some losers climbing trees.. that was me!!! :-D

The following day the campus had Harvestfest which is a day where all the different clubs set up games in the campus center for kids in the area to come and celebrate halloween. I had heard that mr. president of the outing club broke his collar bone so they desperatly needed help. So Hilary, Marie, another friend Caitlin and I, the nice kids that we are said "Sure! we'll help out with the pie-tossing!!!"

HERE I AM!! Kinda creepy, i know.
Ha, I was definatly blowing whipped cream out of my nose for the rest of the day!! But the kids loved it and I had a blast!! So ya, thats my weekend in a nutshell.

I have to go to class now!!! boo. I hate Tuesdays. :-(

Another crazy week done!!!! Papers are all passed in all exams are done.. for now anyways. Got my first exam back for chemistry.. didnt do so great. :-/ And we had a study group going too!!! Getting kinda worried now, you know me, a chem major, struggling in general chem!!! How am I gonna be next few years taking all those crazy chem courses!!!!???? ergg.. anyways... glad to see this site up and running.. it looks great!!!!! Not too excited about how i look in the group photo. Im not even smiling!! :-( Believe me, Im a much happier person than I look!! :-D
Anyways, this past Monday I hiked Mt. Katahdin with the outing club!!!!!!! It was really amazing!! Definatly was a big A hike, about 9 hrs of straight hiking!! Never done anything like that before!!!

There I am at the top of the summit. 5200 feet!!!! yippee!!!!!!!!!!
Thats me, off to climb the KNIFE'S EDGE!!! It was a very narrow rocky trail across the top of the mountain.
This was the scariest part but the most exciting!!!! I felt like I was in cliffhanger. Once we were going across there were strong winds, probably about 70 mph. It felt the same way as you would put your face out the window of your car while on the highway. I love doing crazy stuff like that!! It was great!!!!

I have other pictures but I dont want to fill this whole page up. Umm.. not really sure what else to say. Glad the craziness is over and looking forward to seeing my folks this weekend for friends/family weekend. Think we're just gonna go shopping in freeport!!!! :-D Should be a good time!

First thing's first. I read everyone else's first blog and I noticed.. OH MAN!! I forgot to say a little bit about myself!!!

Well, My name is Jess. I'm from an itty-bitty town called Fairhaven which is right next to New Bedford, MA 1/2 hour from the cape. Yeah, its a nice area. Im here in the lovely Biddeford to study chemistry and education....
ya its some good stuff ;-)
I am currently part of the outing and scuba club and maybe the pep band?? They're still trying to get that going, that should be fun. I love watching movies, mostly the chick flicks and comedies. Music is my favorite thing ever. I listen to just about everything besides country and rap!! (eck!) uuummmm..... thats about it for now i guess, I dont know what else to say about myself.. but god am I so excited its FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been quite a crazy/stressful week. Lots of papers and exams. Had an exam today in chem, not cool.... im just glad its done with!! Oh and some advice to others.. dont ever wait the night before to do a paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since I was back home last weekend, I had very little time to do the work, so I wait till Monday night and freak out to to the two 2-page papers on insects for bio lab thats due Tuesday. very very stupid.. dont ever do it. If your free and have nothing to do Wednesday and Thursday night and know your gonna be completely busy on the weekend.. DO YOUR PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anywho, im glad most of the craziness has ended. It is now friday, a 3-day weekend!!! :-D
Fryeburg fair tomorrow and a hike to mt. katahdin w/ the outing club sunday... good times.
