Snow what?

Hey Everyone!

Well it is back to the grindstone. The syllabi have been handed out. You realize that social life is now second hand...sleep third. And you've accepted the fact that your life is books until May.

But one cool thing about second ("spring") semester in Maine...SNOW!!!
That's right...

Today, I had watercolor to start and there is only a tiny window in the Gregory Annex that art students get and I didn't realize until leaving class that it was snowing...and has been ever since!

I pretty much love the snow as much as I love the sand. There is just as many cool things to do during winter as there is during the summer here in Maine. Sure, you don't get the killer tan, but you still make some great memories.

For instance, January 10th was my 21st birthday, and the fam and friends trucked it up to Sugarloaf to go celebrate. The Loaf is one of two major ski resorts here in Maine and is about 2.5-3 hours from campus. If you don't want to spend that much time driving, there are plenty of little ones for some great day trips, but I am a true Sugarloafer at heart (since 1986 actually).

That's the mountain...wicked sweet, huh?

So, there's plenty of terrain for skiers and boarders of all levels. Even if you haven't skied a day in your life, you should consider some lessons. It is SO much fun to gather up a bunch of friends and go skiing!!! The mountain also has a great little village with a couple bars and restaurants. It is such a laid back and fun place to go spend a weekend. Even if you don't ski or board, there is cross country skiing, skating, snow shoeing and turbo tubing.
Turbo tubing wasn't quite open yet, so my friends and I resorted to an air matress to slide down the trail right next to the condo (shhh...don't tell mountain security).

ANYWAY...In case you were interested in some "college student" deals I dug some up from Sugarloaf's website and have them for you right here...
