Pleased to Meet You
Hi folks!
Emma here. This is my first blog...EVER!!! It has been a long day, and I am ready for bed, but I wanted to post something. So, let me tell you a little bit about me! I have lived in Biddeford, ME my entire life, and I love it. We've got a neat little town, with a bunch of new shops openning just off the highway, a beautiful beach, and an awesome university.
I'll admit, I never wanted to go to UNE while I was in High School, cause who really can get excited about a college they live a mile away from? But by twists of fate,(and a really long story) I ended up at UNE and am so happy I did. I entered UNE in the Spring Semester of 2004. It was absolutely frigid, and I was very nervous starting college a semester late. The orientation team quickly warmed up the day with their fun games and quirky manuierisms. They made some of the tedious parts of orientation fun and I felt very welcomed on campus.
Unsure of what I wanted to major in, I entered undeclared. The liberal arts at UNE helped me realize, rather quickly, that I really enjoyed English, so I declared my major the following fall. Just a few weeks ago, I declared my minor in Fine Arts. With any luck, the number of electives beside my major and minor that I need may also lead to another minor in either History or Women's Studies. So in a university primarily considered for the sciences, I am devoted to the liberal arts. I am enjoying my education mostly because of the small departments I deal with, which allow me to get close with my professors and really get the full benefit of each course.
Other than academics, I have found many clubs and activities to keep me busy. I am an editor for the Zephyr, UNE's literary and artistic journal, member of the Activities Programming Board (APB), active in the Class of 2008, and went on last year's Alternative Spring Break with Habitat for Humanity. I am interested in many other clubs, but there are only so many hours in a day!!!
Well, I probably could go on, but that is enough for now!
Hopefully you'll keep reading my blog to get to know me and UNE a little bit better.
Have a glorious day!!!
e
