Seals

Hey All!! Well, I got a couple really good questions from my last entry so, like always, I will start with answering the questions.

Liz- Don't worry about bothering me, because you definitely aren't!! I'm here to tell you about my life and to answer your questions about life at UNE! What am I going to do with my degree...hmmm...good question. Well, I hope to someday go to Med School. Right now I hope to become a Pediatric Oncologist, but who knows what I'll end up being. Hopefully some type of doctor. You definitely can go Pre-Vet here. I know a couple people who are doing that. But, basically with a Medical Biology degree you will need to go to some type of grad school unless you want to be like a teacher or something. But again, you can do pre-vet here, and who knows, maybe you'll get here and decide to switch to marine bio. or something!

Jamie- If you want to, you can check out one of my past entries titled "Hola". I talked about sports and such there in response to a question Aimee had for me. If you do decide that you are interested in doing a sport, you should contact the coach soon. They can usually set up a recruiting trip where you come up and meet people from the team and spend a night on campus and see what it's like. I did this last year before I came here and I really enjoyed it. But, even if you're just interested, contact the coach because it can never hurt just to get some info. I'm definitely glad that I decided to run Cross Country, I made so many close friends. I think it really helped me break out of my shell and not be as shy as I normally would be.

Now, on to my week! It was pretty exciting! It started off pretty slow, but it got exciting! Sometime during the week (I forget the exact day...Tuesday perhaps...) the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (MARC) released four seals that they healed and took care of for the past few months. Trisha, Morgan, Dani, and I went to Granite Point (a few miles down the road) and watched the seal release. There were news crews and lots of students who went down to see. It was really fun!

Here's a pic of me and Trisha before we left (we switched sunglasses) and then there's a pic of me, Dani, and Morgan at the beach before the seals were released.

I also uploaded a video onto Youtube so I could put it on this blog. This seal was the first one to be released. He was really excited to get back into the ocean.

This weekend was experience UNE Day too! Alex (my roommate) and I had two Cross Country recruits stay with us, Josh and Mark. It was a lot of fun and if they end up coming here, they'll make great additions to the team. I also probably saw many of you throughout the day because I helped out with the Sports table at the little fair thing they had going on and I was also in one of the rooms they were showing during the tours! It was a lot of fun seeing next year's potential freshmen. For the most part, ya'll were pretty decent! hah

Sunday was also my first day of RA Training. It was really fun getting to see all the RAs for next year. We took pictures and wrote little things about ourselves for the UNE website. We also did a really cool personal values activity and then we went over and signed our contracts for next year! Yup, you know what that means....Some of you are going to be stuck with me next year! hah!

So, as you can probably tell, I had a great week!!! Before I end this, I just wanted to add in one more pic that I toook this week that I really liked...a pic of me, Fran, and Amy.

Have a great week, and remember: Comments and questions are always welcome!!!

Hey Love. So I was just reading through all these entries and you are doing a really good job with them. It's cool they have this now so more kids can get a view from students now. Okay. Keep it up.
Hello, I plan on going to UNE next year for med bio as well, and I was just wondering how scheduling for classes worked. If you could pick your own time blocks, etc. What is your schedule like each day? What time do you start and end usually? Thanks!
Hey. I'm going to UNE next year as a transferring sophmore. I would really like to get involved with something, ANYTHING, for the Marine Rehabilitation Center. Do I wait until I get down there next fall, or do I need to start contacting people now? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
