Here we go again

Hey everyone! Even though it is the end of September and just the beginning of the year I have already learned so much. My nursing classes are challenging, but in a good way. My clinical at Maine Med is interesting and I am doing a lot of hands on nursing work. That’s what is nice about Nursing at UNE, because you’ll learn nursing skills through your clinical and class.

UNE also has other ways to teach us outside the classroom. For example last week I attended the College of Health Professionals (CHP) sponsored seminar on health insurance. It was very interesting and I learned a lot about whether health insurance should be universal. The seminar consisted of presentations and an open debate. The next CHP seminar will be presentations of CHP student’s grand rounds. This event allows students to learn from each others own experiences. Feel free to stop in and attend one of these seminars because walk-ins are welcome. Who knows maybe you’ll learn something knew! You can find a seminar you may like following this link: http://www.une.edu/ur/news/chpseminars0708.asp

What else is new is my Health and Law class had a guest speaker from the honorable Judge Brennan. He spoke a lot about malpractice and ethics in the health care field. He brought plenty of examples from his own experiences and was open to discussing what we thought. All in all it was a different alternative to my regular class schedule.

Well I’ll keep you all up to date with new things happening at UNE and in my schooling. Talk to later!
