Back at WCC
Hi everyone! I’m writing to you back at good ol’ UNE Westbrook College Campus (WCC) and I am excited to be back. A lot of things are going on for me and it’s only been the first week. So let me fill you in:
1. I found out where my clinicals are going to be. Med. Surg. Nursing could be held at Mercy, Maine Medical Center, or York Hospital. I’ll be going to Maine Medical Center. This is great because Maine Med. Is Maine’s largest hospital and it offers a lot of educational opportunities to student nurses like me. For example I can spend some of my clinical hours in the O.R., Emergency Room, Day Surgery, or any other unit of my liking. I am really looking forward to all the nursing knowledge I can learn at Maine Med.
2. Along with taking my nursing class I am taking a new elective class called Healthcare and Law. This class will teach me everything I need to know about medical malpractice and how the law works in the healthcare field. Our professor is going to teach us a lot. Like what happens in a medical malpractice case, how to avoid a malpractice suit, and why nurses must follow their nursing standards. Our professor has even gotten a judge to come and speak for our class next week.
3. It has already been the first full week of class and UNE is doing so many fun things to get the campus community closer. I think there where 3 BBQ this week for students. Students at WCC can look forward to a Six Flags Trip, Free Movies, Themed dinners (we have a Texas themed dinner next week) and all sorts of raffles.

Look at all the things planned for the month of September!
Looking at this campus you wouldn't realize this campus is in the city Portland
4. Didn't want to forget this! The Finely Rec. Center is holding a fall exercise challenge too. So students can get rewards for working out and staying fit!
As you can see there is a lot a student at WCC can do and learn. I am amazed at what UNE has to offer to its students. It is truly amazing. I guess UNE takes that old saying to heart “If you work hard, then play hard.”
Have a good week everyone!
Amanda
