Spring Semester is in Bloom
Hello everyone! I know it's been a long time since I blooged and I'm very excited to be back.
Let me start with what happened during Intersession. If you don't know what Intersession is, I'll explain because a lot of people do not know. Intersession is the University's Winter Break. We have a month and a half off which is really nice. During this break the "U" offers classes that students can take if they want to. I was here for Intersession, not to take class but to work for Orientation. I and the other Team Leaders for Orientation were planning Spring Transfer Orientation. I had work everyday from 10am - 4pm. I was also here for RA, so I got to work and live up here during Intersession. It was very relaxing and I enjoyed every minute of it. Also, during Intersession, the brand new Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Student Center opened (unofficially). The brand new facility is amazing. Let me just give you a quick run-down of the building; this building is replacing the old Gunster Student Center. On the first floor is the Mailing Center & mailboxes, the Bookstore, the Convenience Store, Quizno's, Zoca (Mexican Grill), Brick Oven (makes pizza), Chik-Fil-A, and Starbuks! The second floor has mainly offices and an amazing fireplace lounge. The third floor is the amazing cafe. Finally the fourth floor has a huge ballroom, auditorium (it's like a movie theater), and three meeting rooms. The building is, again, amazing. The University had really out-done themselves and a long-waited building for our growing community.
Now, Spring Semester is in full swing. This is the going to be a great semester. This semester I'm taking Logical and Rhetorical Analysis, Writing for Communication, Theology II, Philosophy, Intro to Fiction, and First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. So far I love all of my classes. Also worked into my course work I'm taking Scranton Emerging Leaders (SEL) 2 (a leadership course), I'm facilitating SEL 1, RA, and Orientation. This is going to be a very busy semester. I really can't wait. What's amazing to me is that I'm going to be finished with my second year here at the U. I'll be half way finished with my college career here at the U. It's very exciting and also very scary. I have to start thinking about what I what to do with my life. Do I want to go to graduate school or jump right into the real world? I never imagined answering these questions so early in my life but I'm going to have to and soon.
That's what's going on right now. Check back next week to see what I'm up to!
Cya!
-Robert
