Thank you for letting me know!!! How long do you think a decision takes to get to Cape Cod?

I looked at the blog from December 18th and most of the people got their letters in a day or two. I live about an hour away from Providence. I'm wondering if you use express or priority mail. I just can't wait to find out if got accepted!

Hi Scott,

Your blog is so helpful. My D was accepted early action, but I am nervous she is slipping into "senioritis." I have tried to tell her maintaining her A average is important, but she doesn't seem to care since she has already been accepted. Have you ever revoked a student's admission? I know at some schools they only pay attention to whether a student has failed a class. Thanks so much!

Najam - How long for letters to reach the Cape? Probably not more than a couple of days. You should have the letter soon.

Carrie Anne - No, we don't use express or priority mail... but the postal service is pretty quick, so all students should have their letters in hand shortly.

Mary - Yes, there are occasionally students who have their admission revoked when their final high school transcripts arrive in June. It doesn't happen that often, but all invitations to PC (including students invited Early Action) come with understanding that the student will successfully complete their senior year of high school. If there is a drastic change in performance senior year, that absolutely will raise a red flag in our office when the final transcript arrives. And even if the student hasn't failed any classes, if they go from an A/A- GPA to a C/D GPA senior year, they will certainly at least receive a letter from PC asking for an explanation. One of the reasons why it is so important to us that a student maintains their senior year academic performance after they have been accepted is because we have so many qualified candidates for a limited number of spaces, and students are often placed on the waiting list for dipping to just a "B" average senior year (in the context of our applicant pool, these students simply don't match up to the many, many students who are continuing to perform at an A- level during senior year). Therefore, a student who doesn't finish that senior year with a strong academic performance really hasn't earned their space in our class, in the context of the rest of the applicant pool. Senior year performance - even after a student has been accepted - certainly does matter, and we review every final transcript that comes in to our office to make sure that our invited/enrolled students have successfully completed the senior year.

Hi Scott,

Thank you so much for your blog--it has been very insightful while going through the difficult and sometimes painful college process. I received my acceptance letter today and am VERY excited!

:)

Hi Scott,

I just got my letter and I am so excited! But I was just wondering when letters concerning the Liberal Arts Honors Program and merit-based scholarships will be mailed?

Thanks so much!

Jen,

Liberal Arts Honors Program invitations and merit scholarships are mailed separately from decision letters - it looks like they will be released either this Friday or early next week. I'll keep you posted!
