"PC Up Close" Recap
On Saturday, we welcomed around 400 potential members of the Class of 2013 (and their families) to campus for PC Up Close, an on-campus program for students accepted Early Action.
The day provided our invited students with opportunities to learn about academic and student life on campus; hear from faculty, administrators, and current students; and attend our men's basketball game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in downtown Providence. Here's the day in pictures...

For the Early Action invited students who were unable to attend on Saturday, we hope to see you on Family Day, when we will welcome all accepted students (both Early Action and Regular Decision) to campus in April.
By the way, the Friars beat Rutgers 78-68 Saturday night, improving to 16-9 overall and 8-5 in conference play.

Hi Scott! Thanks for writing this blog, it has been so helpful. Providence has been my first choice since early on in my junior year and when I was accepted early action I was thrilled. I attended PC Up Close with my parents and we all had a great experience and we all felt that it would be a great school for me.
However, Providence is currently well out of our price range. We were expecting much more in financial aid, but the preliminary amount was quite low. I was wondering if there is typically a significant difference between the preliminary financial aid estimate and the final financial aid amount?
Thanks again,
Gabriella

Hi Gabriella,
Thanks for posting. I am glad to hear you and your family enjoyed your time on campus during PC Up Close! To answer your question, no, need-based financial aid package estimates sent to students accepted Early Action are usually identical to the actual financial aid award (unless family circumstances were to change). I wish I had a better answer to that question for you... Have you spoken with your financial aid counselor at all? They would be able to shed more light on why you received what you did in your need-based aid package than I can. If you call their office at (401) 865-2286, they will put you in touch with your specific financial aid counselor. I wish you the best as you sort out the financial part of this process and make your final decision.

We are having the same problem with our daughter's financial aid package. She would choose Providence over other schools but we were really disappointed with the package. Now we aren't sure if Providence will be possible for her which is too bad because she really loved it there.

Hi Scott! I was just wondering when the Providence College accepted students online community is going to go online...it was mentioned that it would mid-February, and I still haven't heard anything. When is it coming? (Or have I just missed the boat?)

Hi Christine,
Don't worry, you have not missed the boat! You'll be receiving an invitation to the Providence College Class of 2013 Official Network this week!

Dear Scott
I just wanted to share that my daughter (and her parents!) truly enjoyed ourselves at the accepted students event for Early Action students. The Providence community was quite welcoming and your students are a tribute to the institution. Kudos on a job well done.
