Wish Me Luck

Hey everyone,

Why, you might be saying, should you wish me luck? Well, as of tomorrow, I will be sending my completed application to Grad School!!! It has definitely been a long and grueling process. I would, however, like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. It truly means the world to me. Now that the application process is complete, I currently face the waiting process.

This past week has been a very successful one. My family and I threw an awesome surprise birthday party for my mom. It was a success that we actually surprised her! Colleges Against Cancer had a very productive and insightful 1st meeting. MAC Goes Green, after a very long wait, had Recycling begin on campus. AND...the STEELERS are going to the SUPERBOWL!!! Sorry to Corey and the Eagles fans...maybe it'll happen next year.

I'm going to Luthersburg with John for the weekend. Apparently, his uncle throws the best Superbowl party around. If you're going to be hanging out on campus though, you can stop down in the Cosgrave Rec Room and enjoy some free pizza and soda for the big game. Student Activities is sponsoring the event.

Hope you all have a great weekend. GO STEELERS!!

God Bless,

Laura

Back Into the Ol' Routine

Hey there! Things have definitely gone back to the old routine around here. I am enjoying all of my classes so far. It's sad to think about, seeing as how they are the last classes I am going to take at MAC. I'm also enjoying the professors as well. I have some of my favorites this semester and I think it's making things easier to say goodbye.

There is a lot of planning going on, which means a lot of meetings. You know how I love to have a busy schedule. We are in the heart of Relay season, so the Colleges Against Cancer group is at it's prime right now for recruiting and planning the 6th Annual MAC Relay For Life. I'm also helping our new Student Activities Director plan a Spring Fest for April.

It looks like this is going to be the craziest and most fun of all my MAC semesters!

God Bless,

Laura

Welcome Back!

Welcome back! I hope your holiday was as enjoyable as mine. It was great being home with my parents and little sister. She and I were both home from college and it felt like old times in no time.

My trip to Mississippi was incredible. My friends and I went down with a group of 20 from MAC. We stayed and worked with an organization called Camp Coast Care. Their mission is to help families restore their homes that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. I couldn't believe how much damage is still there after so many years. John, Becky, Christine and I worked with the Heldt family all week. It was a life-changing experience and we have already vowed to go back again to help.

We also had the opportunity to spend a day in New Orleans. It was incredible walking through the French Quarter and taking in the sights. We had lunch at Cafe du Monde, walked around Jackson square, saw the dueling pianos at Pat O'Brien's and had dinner at Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip.

God Bless,

Laura
