Jack Sparrow Meets Pink Out Day at MAC

Happy Halloween everybody!! October is over...can you even believe it?? I'm still loving the weather we are having though...I can't complain about that. Well today has been a truly amazing day in my eyes. MAC celebrated it's first annual Pink Out Day. This was an idea that several of my friends and I discovered at a Relay For Life Youth Summit last fall and we decided to try it ourselves. I designed a t-shirt that my fellow Colleges Against Cancer members and I sold to raise money for cancer research. We sold over 400 shirts!!! We even had to delay the date of the event because of the high demand for shirts. It was truly moving to see so many people supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. When everywhere I looked, I saw a pink shirt, I felt like I was part of something so much bigger than myself. I guess you could say it was life changing. On a side note, all of my friends and I dyed our hair pink for the day!! I even contemplated making it permanent because it looked so good...just kidding!!

Later in the evening, my fellow members of the Residence Hall Association and I threw one awesome Halloween Dance!! In my very biased opinion, my costume was the best. Haha!! I went as Captain Jack Sparrow and joined up with my friends the Rockstar, a pack of Bubble Yum, a witch, an Oompa Loompa, and the dynamic duo of a Priest and a Nun!! Prizes were awarded to the top 3 costumes as well as the best faculty/staff member. I made the final round but lost to Raggedy Ann...what's that about?? :o) Anyway, we all had a great time and I am definitely ready for bed...now if I could just get the pink hair dye out...

Pumpkin Carving

Tonight I am hosting a Pumpkin Carving contest with a couple of my fellow RA's. I remember attending a program like this when I was a freshman and I had so much fun...so I decided to run my own. :o) Things have been pretty hectic so I have to get all the shopping done after my classes today. I'm really going to be cutting it close. I have to get 30 pumpkins, utensils for cutting and scooping, drinks, snacks and of course the prizes! My bf Becky is going shopping with me so things should be a bit easier. Can you honestly see me loading 30 pumpkins into my car?? On a good day, maybe...but now with my bad back...no way!! Listen to me, I sound like a little old lady. LoL

I can't believe that October has come and gone already. I don't know where all of these days are going! I wake up and it's Monday morning. I shut my eyes and it's Friday night. What am I going to do?? I'm getting excited though now that November is around the corner. I love the holiday season and the holiday shopping!! I also like the cold weather...to a degree. All of my loyal blog readers should know why...that's right...HOT CHOCOLATE TIME!!!!!!! Haha

Well, I'm going to run to my Statistics class and hit the road. Have a great day!!

Soccer Season Cut Short

Well, I told ya my body was wearing down...we had a game against Penn State Altoona last night and I pretty much got my body knocked around the whole game: falling in the mud, colliding with the opposing players, and finding out that I don't bounce very well when I hit the ground...I just kinda hit it and BOOM!!! I'm down for the count. Wrong sport, but I think you get the picture. According to my doctor, I have a pretty good back injury that's going to require some Physical Therapy and probably my first trip to a chiropractor. Doc grounded me for the last two soccer games so my season got cut a little short.

I'm going to keep it pretty short today, since I'm in a significant amount of pain, and probably take a nap...Naps are pretty much the only things that get me through the day anymore. Haha!

Enjoy the awesome Autumn weather!!

Productive Meetings

Hey everybody! I'm in a pretty good mood because we just had a very productive Food Focus Committee meeting. I love when meetings run smoothly; you feel as if you got so much more accomplished. I also love when you have a great group of people that mesh really well...they just click! We were informed that the Snack Bar and Cafeteria will be getting a major face lift during the holiday breaks coming up: new paint, new food, new set up, new Snack Bar name, new signs, etc. I can't wait to see how everything tuns out. We also decided on running a two week trial of keeping the Snack Bar open from 8-10 pm. I've been working toward this since my freshman year, so you can imagine how psyched I am about this one!!

The rest of this week is going to be fairly not busy...for once!! We have a Student Government meeting tomorrow and on Firiday, I will be leaving with the Men's and Women's Soccer Teams for our overnight trip to Hilbert College in New York. We will be going to Niagara Falls before the game and everybody is excited. I loved my first trip there with the soccer team during my freshman season and I can't wait to see it again!

Well I'm going to take off and get some homework done...Catch ya around!

Hello October!!

Can anybody believe that it's October already?? Where did September go? Well, for all of you Greenday fans...Wake me up, when September ends...this is your WAKE-UP CALL!!!! LOL! If you make your way up our mountain, you'll see the beginning stages of Autumn setting in. The trees are changing and offering a beautiful splash of color to the campus and there is a sweet, crisp coolness in the air. It smells like Fall. Although I love the summer sun and relaxing on the beach, this is probably one of my favorite times of the year.

This week, although busy as usual, has been kind of relaxing...if that makes any sense. I guess I was just filled with a more calm and content spirit for the week. It started off with an incredibly interesting Banned Book Seminar during which, numerous faculty and staff shared their concerns and thoughts about the hundreds of inspiring and educational stories that remain on the Banned Book List of America. It's a shame to see so many beautiful pieces of literature banned from the minds of students. The seminar was incredibly informative and moving.

I've also had a nice break from soccer. We don't have a game until Saturday, but we've been keeping up with practices during the week. Hopefully we'll give Medaille a good game. I'm excited to be going home for the first weekend since school started...Bishop Guilfoyle is celebrating their homecoming weekend. This will be the first time, since I've graduated, that I will be attending all of the homecoming festivities. It's also ging to be a very emotional weekend because my younger sister will be celebrating her last homecoming. She is a senior this year and is also running for Homecoming Queen. I already have the box of tissues ready for my parents. It feels as if yesterday I was the senior in high school...now I'm the Junior in college!!!

Well, after that little enlightenment, I definitely think it's time to go...lol!
