Giant Stress Relievers

Who knew that a stress reliever could come in the form of a giant, inflatable boxing rink, a bungee run, an obstacle course through the sinking Titanic, or a giant game of Twister?? I sure didn't!! Student Involvement and Leadership sponsored a program today that included all of the aforementioned inflatables. All of the sudents, as well as some of the college staff, had a blast bouncing around and throwing some playful punches with the over-sized boxing gloves. I know I had fun getting out all of my stress.

Last night, we had our second Colleges Against Cancer meeting and it was incredibly successful. We have decided to hold a Pink Out Day in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. We have also started planning our annual Relay For Life event. It's going to be held in April and the event name is Cruisin' For A Cure...based around a cruise ship theme. I'm so excited that we are getting started so soon. This will give us the opportunity to make the event better.

Well, I think I should get going. Tomorrow is the All College Liturgy and later in the evening, I will be attending the Board of Trustees dinner with several of my fellow students. This weekend we also have a soccer game at Pitt-Bradford...you know me, always busy!!

Ahoy There!!

Today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day...I'll bet you never knew such a day even existed!! My fellow RA, Owen, had success with this program last year and had over 50 students get involved this year. This day has given me a chance to get back into the Purple and Gold of my alma mater, Bishop Guilfoyle High School. Our mascot was a Marauder, land pirate, so I have plenty of pirate gear to sport today.

However, there's nothing like wearing the Navy Blue and Gray of the Mount Aloysius Mountie. This past weekend, the Men's and Women's Soccer teams took a trip to Valley Forge Christian College. Our team triumphed with a 5-2 victory, our first win of the season, but it was the Men's game that kept you on your toes. They scored 3 goals in the last two minutes of regulation, and ending up going into double overtime. The game ended in a tie and was probably the best game they have played this season.

This upcoming weekend is going to be quite eventful as well. Friday night starts the kickoff of Mount Aloysius College's Family Weekend with a Fantasy Casino. Saturday, both the Men's and Women's soccer teams and the Women's Volleyball team have home matches. Student Affairs and Metz (Food Services) are sponsoring a tailgate brunch. Other activities going on throughout the day will be Funny T's, Paul Plays It All Concert, kids activities, giant inflatables to jump in, etc. The Student Athletic Advisory Committee is also sponsoring their annual Take A Kid to the Game Day. My family will be coming up for the event so it should be an amazing day.

Well, the rest of this week is filled with meetings, practices, and homework...which means I should take off. Have a great rest of the week!!

Bienvenidos!! Welcome!!

Welcome back everybody!! I hope you all had a very good and safe summer. For those of you returning readers, I obviously survived that backpacking trip...but barely. I came out with the only injury and a couple of little scars...my battlewounds. It was truly a memorable experience, one that I hope to never experience again. :o) HAHA! I got to go jet-skiing for the first time. That was the biggest adrenaline rush ever and is definitely going to become an annual thing. I also turned 21, bought a car and got a tattoo! So, needless to say, my summer was quite eventful.

As for you newcomers, I'm glad you've found your way here. Maybe sometime in the near future we will get to meet face to face...like at the Fall Visitation day on October 30th or a personal tour of the campus. I hope that reading these blogs throughout the year will be beneficial to you in discovering Mount Aloysius College.

My Junior year at MAC is officially underway. My classes are going incredibly well. On my schedule for this semester is Human Biology, Social Psychology, Women & Spirituality, Cognitive Psychology, and Intro to Statistics...talk about a full load!! I am also keeping up with all of my clubs and organizations from last year...including a few more. This year I am the Vice-President of Student Government Association, Co-Captain of the Women's Soccer team and a Resident Assistant. Back in high school, I never thought all of this would be possible.

Well again I say welcome and I hope to be seeing you all in the near future!!
