Bouncing Back and Forth...

Well I'm back from a pretty exciting weekend! I went to Altoona Friday night to be with my mom for her birthday. I hadn't seen her for two weeks, so I was excited to be home. Mom and Dad picked me up from MAC around 6 and we got a pizza from Penn Gable's, a nice pizzeria in Ebensburg. When we got home, my sister was just getting back from cheerleading practice and we all went to have dinner together. My mom decided that she wanted to go out to the movies for her birthday. She picked Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner. I loved it, and Mom had fun spending time with us...she always does!!

Saturday, I made my way back up here to help with the Take a Kid to the Game Day festivities. The weather held out for everybody, and it even warmed up quite a bit. We had dozens of kids show up as well as the Mount Aloysius athletes. I think my favorite part of the day was watching the baseball players put their artistic skills to work at the face painting table. Tim Kelly, the Athletic Director and Women's Soccer coach, handed me a camera and put me in charge of documenting the whole event. With my love for photography, you can imagine how excited I was!! I might have had more fun than the kids. HaHa :o)

After the games, I spent the rest of the night with my mom and dad. My dad made my mom's special birthday dinner: meatloaf, corn and French onion soup. (My mouth is watering just thinking about it!) To top everything off, we made Mom a birthday cake that just melted in our mouths!!

Well, after bouncing back and forth between MAC and Altoona this weekend, I'm kinda tired and have to catch up on some reading and homework...I'll catch you guys later!!

Building a Snow Fort

Well, it started to snow in Cresson this week...finally! The entire campus is a prestine white and I have a great view out my residence hall window. Last night, I was watching TV, all warm and toasty, when I got a call from John. He begged me to come outside and help him and Owen build a snow fort. I thought to myself, "Warm and toasty, hot chocolate, and TV...or freezing cold, blustery wind and 4+ inches of snow?" Of course I went with the snow!! :o) So, I bundled up and made my way up to Misicagna to play in the snow!

When I got there, Owen and John were already busy at work. We used shovels and trash cans to transfer all the snow. After my fingers and face went numb, I started to have a really good time. Haha! Everyone that walked by thought we were crazy but in all actuality, they were the crazy ones for passing up fun in the snow. By the time I had to leave, our pile of snow was taller than I am...let me just say that it was REALLY big! It's a project that is going to take all weekend to finish I am sure.

Well, I'm about ready to settle down with a BIG cup of hot chocolate, a nice warm blanket and a good movie...Try to stay warm this weekend!

Steppin it Up

Tonight the STEP Team made its first appearance of the new year. After practicing 4 hours on Sunday, 3 hours Monday, and sparatic practices yesterday and today, we finally nailed the new routine! We definitely felt confident about showing off our new talent to the MAC community. We hit it off with only a few minor mistakes and the crowd went wild. It was a true adrenaline rush.

I can't wait for our next performance at the Take A Kid to the Game day this upcoming Saturday, January 27. The basketball teams play at 2pm and 4pm and there will be plenty of entertainment. Representatives from all the athletic teams will be present to sign autographs, take pictures and hang out with all of the kids. Many of our families and friends will be there as well. I just hope the weather holds out for them. :o)

My classes are continuing to go smoothly and they are getting more and more interesting by the day. I think my favorite teacher is Rich Kensinger a.k.a. "Prof. K." He teaches both my General and Abnormal Psychology classes. He has such an amazing sense of humor in regards to Psychology and he leaves me hanging on his every word. It's still early in the game, but I know I made the right choice to become a Psychology major! :o)

Well, I have some reading to get done for my classes tomorrow so I'm going to call it a night...hope to see you on campus soon!

Things Are Heating Up...Even With the Snow!

This first week back has definitely given me a glimpse of the months that lay ahead of me. I feel like I haven't stopped all week...except to watch the premiere episodes of American Idol of course. My classes have been amazing so far and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of my new professors. I haven't had them for any previous courses, so this semester should be interesting.

Along with classes, my meetings have started to fill in the days of my calendar. I just had a softball meeting yesterday. We discussed how our fundraising is going. We are raising money to attend a week-long tournament in Myrtle Beach in order to get some pre-season games under our belts. We also received our practice schedule, which offically starts in February. That means it's time to get in some extra workouts at the gym!! The STEP team also met last night. Ebony, our coach, told us to come prepared for a lot of work at the next practice. She is

bringing us to a whole new performance level
and can't wait to show the Mount Aloysius community what we are really made of. :o) I can't wait!!

So, things are really heating up after the first week. My time management skills are going to play a HUGE factor this semester. Between balancing classes, softball, STEP, SAAC, Student Government, and being a Co-Chair of the MAC Relay For Life event...I'm going to have a full plate. But if you know me by now, you know that I love to be busy...and that I LOVE a challenge. :o)

With the fresh snow outside, today is one of those days for hot chocolate...so I'm going to make one!!

Back in Action

Christmas break was great to say the least. I got to see my family everyday, sleep in my OWN room, catch up with my best friends from high school and R-E-L-A-X! That last one was my favorite...but don't tell that to my parents and sister. :o) My room at home has apparently become the new "hang out" of the Deely household. I think my Mom and sister were in there more than I was!! It was a bit trying at times but I loved all of the extra time I had with them. I have a futon and a nice TV, so it definitely seems more like a family room than a bedroom. I got to spend a lot of time with my Dad because he had knee surgery over break and while my Mom was at work and my sister at school...I got to play nurse...fun fun!! :o)

I was so excited when I was packing to come back to MAC. Last week, I was so ready to be here and get back into college mode with my new classes, see my friends again, and do work study in the Admission's Office. Day one of classes is officially over. I had Professional Computer Applications and American History 1 today. I think my history class is going to be really interesting. Tomorrow I have my General and Abnormal Psychology classes. I really like my schedule this semester because I don't have early classes, except for Friday, and I only have two classes per day. This will work well when softball practices and Relay For Life get started.

Well, I'm going to get some work done before I go to dinner and the basketball games with JP...

Glad to be back!!!
