All yap, no snap. How are you? Nice to see you again. Lots of stuff to talk about. Hmmm, business or pleasure first? Wait that's easy. I just saw 300. I really like the movie, so I'm giving it 0.95 Batmans, based on my own rating scale where all other movies compare to Batman. Batman Begins, the most righteously awesome movie ever, has a 1.0 rating. My movie is The Big Lebowski , but Batman remains supreme in the awesomeness department. Wait, wasn't I talking about 300? As you can see by its Batman rating, it was a really awesome movie. I came out pumped, kinda wanted to grab a sheild and cape and run around screaming and yelling.

However, I enjoyed the movie on a whole different level. CAUTION: NERD ALERT. The story of the Spartans at Thermapoli is my favorite battle in all of history. It has enormous historical significance for western culture. Democracy, hello. This battle changed the course of history. Plus, it may be the most macho moment in history. Hulk body slamming Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania 3 is number two. 300 of the greatest warriors of their time were able to hold off an army of one million, actually about 300,000 fighters, the rest were logistical support. No matter how over the top the movie was, it can't even touch the real event. Frank Miller really stuck to the story, good plot, good special effects. Gonna buy it when it comes out of DVD.

Finally, an update on my classes. I received some e-mail about a panel discussion on No Child Left Behind. As someone who wants to be a teacher, I'm totally psyched about it. I'm totally goin'. I will dominate the open exchange of ideas like a Spartan, Ah-Whoo. Don't you just love it when a movie exceeds the hype. Just like Mount Aloysius. Awesome.

Professors love papers with analogies (like the movie equating to MAC). Try it...
