So long, farewell, auf wierdersehn, good night.....

What a trip!
One semester is in the books. It was an awesome ride. Hopefully you enjoyed my backwards, forwards, and sideways account of life at Mount Aloysius. All I know is that as much as I love College, I love a lazy Christmas holiday, too.

My schedule for next semester is a little front heavy on the week, lighter at the end. I had a good finish today. I have this world religion stuff down solid. As I walked from class today, I was admiring how this place is really beautiful. And, apparently it's spring already because it was like 60 degrees today.

I would like to continue our little dialog, however, it's time to go the Chinese buffet and eat like million crab rangoons. Have an awesomely awesome Christmas break. And special wishes for any holiday celebration you might participate in. Have a safe and prosperous New Year...I hope that your resolutions go according to plan. So I guess what I'm saying is, "So Longggg, farewellllll, Auf Wierdersehn, Goodbyyyyyyyyyyye!" See you in January...

The Countdown

Ah, finals. I think it's worse waiting for them than actually taking them. I'm really excited to wrap it all up so I can drool over my QPA. I'm gonna have top-notch grades, and I'm super excited. I've been obnoxiously talking about it all week, kinda like right now. I think I have to give credit for this one though to MAC. It really is a special atmosphere up here. Class size and one-on-one advising really makes a difference. At my last college they talked about that kind of stuff on my visits, but I didn't see any of it when I was there. Great job Mount Aloysius, I give you an A, It would have been an A+ but Showtime Steve not hitting any half-court shots at Mountie Maddness hurt you...just kidding! A college is much better than a university though, believe me!

I have two days until my last final and there's no football on. What am I supposed to do with myself? I would cram for religion, but there's a problem. I went to class, so I got all the information and Dr. Rohlf did such a good job I remember it all, too. Well, I guess I'll just have to cozy up to the X-box. If everyone goes to class, they may have the same problem. But, if you're having anxiety from finals, just remember that it will be over soon, and you'll be able to cozy up by the fire and drink egg nog in no time. For now, get lots of vitamin C, stretch out a little, and study hard.

You high schoolers and transfers, schedule a time to visit Mount Aloysius for the New Year. Mount Aloysius College looks really pretty in the snow. Don't make me come get you. The admissions office is busting their humps to bring you into our intellectual community. And, I am spent. I'll give you guys one more to let you know how the last final went. See you later.

This is the end, my only friend the end!

We're gettin' down to it!
Not much time left now Mounties. It's Friday morning and it will soon be finals week. I have a Math and a Religion final next week which should go well barring a nuclear brain meltdown, which I haven't ruled out yet.

I have to get excited for my last presentation...I'm doing my half about Frances Warde, one of the orginal Sisters of Mercy. She was responsible for the founding of Mount Aloysius way, way, wayyyyy back in the 1850s. I liked that topic because I never been able to link my College to a paper for class, which is neat, in a giant nerd kinda way.

Oh, yeah, I know I haven't said anything in a while, but, aren't the Steelers the greatest thing since sliced bread? No, check that, they are sliced bread. Willie ran for like forty million yards and Ben looked sharp last night. And, my old fullback got the last carry of the game. That's so cool. I love you Steelers, I'm sorry I was more focused on other things than you this year, but I'll make it up to you.

Well, it's time to be hittin' the road. Got stuff to do. I think I have one more blog in me this semester, so come back next time and we''ll wrap these shanaigans up. At least until next semester. Happy Holidays!

Be cool, Stay Warm!

Righteously Tubular Superularly Awesome

Hello my most excellent friends!
Yes, I know I just made up a word (superularly), but it doesn't matter because YESSSSSSSSSS! I tested out of my Women's History final. Yes, yes, yes! I'm the heavy weight champion of the world! That is like the greatest thing that I have ever heard in the history of ever. I have worked so hard in that class all semester long, and it truly paid off. It's so great! My mom still pushes me to be the best I can be, so she'll be excited to hear this! Hard work during the semester saves all nighters at the end!

I know you guys are getting pumped to jack up your finals. And, if your a little behind for the test, discover coffee. I joined the greatest of all majors...so I hope everyone is as pumped up about their majors as I am.

I think I may have switched over to cruise control for the rest of the semester. All of my long-term papers have been turned in, so no more of those puppies until next semester. The religion final will be cake because religion is cool, and I pay attention. Math will be cool because it is my final math requirement for the history/political science arena. So keep me in mind as you descend into the madness of finals, and remember that Big Man cares.

Go Steelers on Thursday night...meet me for the game, and I'll tell you how to DISCOVER Mount Aloysius College!

Don't forget to bring a towel!

Big Man has the plan...

How's it going my fellow and future Mounties? This is the Big Man comin' to you from the Sensational Elevation of the Mount Aloysius Nation. Hope you are doing great. Busy, busy, busy, today. I have a quiz in math. Good times.

And after math is when the hard stuff really starts! My family is redoing the basement in my house because my brother has a friend coming for like a ten day visit, then my uncle's family is coming from New Orleans for like a week and a half stay. Their visits are a lot of work to get ready for, but hey, it's the hoildays, you know! Peace on Earth, good will towards men. The basement project is cool because we haven't used it for anything but storage and such over the last ten years. The New DePiro Lair shall be righteously awesome! Nice and warm, with a fresh coat of paint, and far enough away from everybody that we can play Guitar Hero at full volume. Excellent.

I hope you guys are starting to feel Christmasy. I myself have istituted a rigorous work out schedule to enhance my holiday jolliness. Or maybe I'm just getting fat...er. Well, I think it's about time to be hitten the ole' dusty trail. See you on the other side...cuz Mount Aloysius College is EX-CELLENT.

Duck!!!

Wow! Did you see that? That thing that almost hit you...
You're just lucky that I'm here. But, I know what you're thinking. "Big Man, how can you possibly save everyone?"

Well, I rely on my Super-DePiro powers. It is kind of like being Batman, but with no cape. Haha...I'm just kidding.

I feel a thousand percent better than last week. I had been typing so long that my eyes gave out on me and I had to wear glasses for like three days. My sleep schedule was a wreck. Dr. Rohlfe was willing to do some one-on-one time with me to help me understand some difficult concepts, which was way cool of him, but that's really how all the professors are here at MAC.

Now that we've finished discussing Christianity, we are studying Islam. I'm glad this is the last chapter because, like it or not, we all have some prejudice concerning the Muslim faith. The problem is that most of the things that we learn about Islam come from the news. I'm excited to learn about it in a sterile environment, to discover the true meaning of Islam. We are already only one day into the discussion, and there are already like four things that I had wrong in my head.

Learning is great! I just wished I liked math as much as I like the other subjects. I can sit and read a history book from front to back, but if I look at math problems, the decimals start jumping around and the fractions do like flippity-do's while I'm trying to concentrate. Well, guess I can tough it out for another week. I'm pleased that I am doing well in there.

Most of my most challenging assignments have been completed, and now it's time to prepare for finals. I know that some of you out there aren't that lucky. But cheer up, kiddies. One week left, then it's Christmas time. The campus is very beautiful -- blue and silver Christmas trees are everywhere in honor of the holiday and our official college colors.

Where have you been?

Jeez!

It feels like I haven't talked to you guys in forever. In truth, I've been doing the same thing you guys have: stuffing myself with turkey and going absolutely crazy over my homework. I haven't gotten much sleep in the last week. On Wedensday night I didn't get any. I'm looking forward to getting some nice shut eye tonight instead of two hours of tossing and turning.

But all my hard work paid off. I handed all my research projects in. World Releigion was Zen Buddhism, Women's History was on Frances Warde, one of the original Sisters of Mercy who helped to establish Mount Aloysius over a hundred and fifty years ago. My research paper on the Cultural Revolution took everything I had left. It ended up being thirteen pages long and included footnotes. It has been a while since I've used Chicago format, but if you are a history major, like this guy, you have to expect it.

Come visit Mount Aloysius College...and if you are considering transferring to MAC...the process is flexible and hassle-free!

It's all down hill from here.
Take it easy, brother...

Don't laugh at big people when we try to buy shoes...it hurts our feelings.
