Current Events and Academics

I don't have much time for small talk today because I have a lot of work to finish this afternoon.

So, how's it going? This week has been full of interesting current events! As I mentioned before, being a history major, you notice that the world changes every day! Crikey! For example, did you hear that Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray barb to the heart? The Crocodile Hunter was hardcore about his profession and will be missed.

What's next? How about the Steelers! Wow! What a great opening game following an amazing Super Bowl victory last season! First, a big thumbs-up to Charlie Batch for his 87-yard touchdown pass to Heath Miller! Willie Parker ran a fast game, and Joey Porter kissed Coach Cowher's chin. It was hilarious. The Steelers are looking pretty super again this year!

But on a more serious note, let's talk academics.

Dr. Rolfe has pulled even with Dr. Smith for instructing my favorite class. Dr. Rolfe has been discussing what defines something as a religion. The class has been analyzing all the twists, turns and paradoxes of what defines religion. I can hardly wait to discuss Taoism, my personal favorite.

In Eastern History, we talked about the first sovereign emperor of China and the development of the Chinese nation's identity. It's really amazing that a country can hold together for 3,000 years, something unparalleled in western culture. These two classes have actually overlapped each other's material more than once, which provides new insight. I love it when a plan comes together.

Finally, I have my first quiz in math with Prof. Bowers. Should be interesting...

That's about that. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and life on top of the mountain is pretty sweet. Mount Aloysius College gets more exciting every day.

Well, I have to go. I'm hitting the books up in the library in about five minutes. Later!

Drink your milk,
