Why I chose LHU: I chose to attend Lock Haven University for many reasons. First, it is a state school,
which means that it is a lot more affordable than other colleges and universities. Also, everyone at LHU is very
friendly and committed to students' success. I really enjoy my time here at Lock Haven; I would say that my
favorite thing about the university is its atmosphere. Lock Haven University is a very enjoyable place to be
and I am very glad that I go here.
Clubs: Social Work Club
Personal Interests: During my spare time I enjoy shopping, scrapbooking, watching the E! channel, and
hanging out with my friends.

Last Wednesday night, the band OAR came to LHU for the fall concert. It was free to all LHU students, and each student could also get two extra tickets for other people who maybe don't go here. It was sponsored by the Student Cooperative Council, sort of like student council in high school. Last year we had T-Pain, and the year before Gym Class Heros came. It's pretty cool that a smaller college like Lock Haven can get these big names here; and all for free!
The SCC does all sorts of neat stuff like the concerts. They have big screen movie nights, comedians, and other forms of entertainment; all of which are free for students. It's really nice because it gives you something to do other than studying all the time!
I've been studying for a midterm...not a much studying as I should have done! It was the hardest test ever. I have one more this week, and one next week. Looks like studying is what I'm going to be up to for a while....yay!
I've been sooooooo busy lately with all my schoolwork, my jobs, studying for tests....it never ends! It seems like the first couple of weeks of the semester are never that bad, and then all at once you get a TON of work piled on you! I think all of the professors secretly get together and decide when to give students work, all at once.....
Other than that, I'm a pretty boring person! I haven't done much of anything in the past few weeks. Today is a kinda crapy day outside too....SNOW! In October!?!
This past week all I have been doing is studying for exams. I have two next weeks and one the following week; my one class is a two-day exam! Ugh!!
Its been a kinda boring week here at The Haven, nothing really exciting happening. Last week my friends and I went to a hypnotist.....it was amazing! One comes here every year, and this was the first year that I went. I wish I had gone the past two years because it was soooooo good! I had never seen anyone hypnotized before, and I don't even know if I can describe the experience. Hopefully all of you at some point will be able to see one too!
So lately there has been a lot of things happening around campus. This year there has been a lot of parties that have got busted, and a lot of people that have got into trouble....that doesnt happen a lot at Lock Haven. While it is kind of sad to hear about all of these people getting into trouble, it is nice to know that the police are cracking down. This just goes to show how safe our campus really is. Did you hear about the guy that died at Penn State? Its such a sad story. I'm so glad that those types of things are rare at LHU...
Along with all this sad news, I also have had personal sadness; a very good family friend's life was taken a few weeks ago. This weekend I am looking forward to going to a memorial dinner and raffle for him. It seems like everything these past few weeks has been so depressing.
On a good note, the first open house was last weekend and it went really well! I had three families on my tour of campus, and they all seemed to enjoy it a lot. Its nice to see families having a good time here, and I hope that they choose to come to The Haven.
It seems like all I have this week is work...a ton of it. For my history class I have to read every night (yuck), and I have three quizes that I have to study for along with meetings, classes, working.....does it ever end?
I've found that the best way to keep myself organized and stress-free is to keep a very detailed planner. Everyday I make sure to look at it, just to double check that I haven't forgotten to do anything. I've done this since my first semester and it seems like it is the only way that I can remember everything that I need to do. A lot of my friends use this method too, so it is what I would suggest to anyone coming into college....buy a planner (and use it, otherwise you will loose your mind!)
This week seems like its going to be a slow week....I have a few reports that are due, and a TON to read. It seems like at the begining of classes you always have to read a lot. My classes are going well over all...except for a little mishap last week.
My professor told my class to read "chapter 1 - the cold war". So I read chapter 1 about the atomic bomb...I didnt know that chapter 2 was titled "the cold war", so I get to class and realize that we were actually to read chapter 2, not chapter one. The professor must have accidently said chapter 1, but she ment to say 2. So the entire class I didnt know what was going on, and I felt completely dumb! Oh well...
The first days of classes are finally past, and now its time to get into all the work that comes along with taking classes (yuck!) All of my classes went really well so far...I have US History, Economics, Earth Science, Applied Social Research, and Social Work Practice II. The best part about everything is that on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I'm finished by 1:10, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm finished by 12:15. Its so nice to have the rest of the day to get everthing done and get caught up.
My apartment is AMAZING! Its so nice to have an apartment after being in the dorms for two years. The dorms are not that bad, but its nice to have more space and an actual bathroom :)
Im finally all moved into my apartment! Vanessa and I moved in on Wednesday, and today Katie and Sandi moved in. We love it!! It took me forever to decorate my room and unpack all of my stuff, but Im finally all moved in.
Today was the last day of training for the admissions office. I am really excited to give a real tour and to work in the office.
Tonight we are all just hanging out...finally I dont have to work all the time!
Its getting close to move-in day for me...nine days away! Im so excited to see my friends again and to move back to LHU. This week is my last week of work here at home :(
I pretty much have all of my stuff ready to go...I did five loads of laundary the other day, getting all of my bedding washed and packed for my new apartment.I think its going to take three vehicles to take all of my stuff to my apartment...ugh. Im so excited and cant wait to finally go back to LHU!
