Name: Cindi Howard
Year: Senior
Hometown: Clearfield, PA
Major: Health Science; Pre-Physician Assistant. I am currently in the process of applying to grad schools.
Why I chose LHU and what I love about it: I chose to attend LHU because of the Physician Assistant program as well as the size of the campus. The number of students on campus is perfect because you get to meet new people every day, but you also see the familiar faces of your friends, too.
Clubs/Organizations I'm involved with or plan to become involved: At Lock Haven, I am in the Honors Program, Pre-Med Club, and Americorps. I am the treasurer of the Health Science Club and also of Phi Sigma Pi, a national honors fraternity on campus.
Other personal interests: I also play intramural soccer, and I work in the Admissions office.

What a Week!!

Hey everybody!
It's been a little while, but to get you up to speed, I had knee surgery on Friday (a week ago). I tore my ACL over spring break, so I finally got my surgery done last week. It's been really rough getting around campus on crutches, especially living off-campus, but the trollies take me almost straight from my house up to main campus! The trollies are fun to ride, efficient, and get you to class on time! Plus, they save you the walk when it's freeeeezing outside.
Monday was a LONG day. I had a biochem exam, physics assignment due, a theatre assignment due, a theatre quiz, and a physics lab due. You can definitely tell it's the end of the semester, because the professors are trying to get all of the last minute assignments thrown to us. Tuesday wasn't as bad. I had a disease exam, then I went to physical therapy here in Lock Haven, and then I did a bunch of homework.
Wednesday was Celebration of Scholarship Day on campus. Students and professors from all majors presented different research projects they've completed over the past year. As a health science major, I did two different presentations: one was a poster about Fractures, and the other was a poster about Exercises during Pregnancy. It was a lot of fun being able to showcase all of the hardwork that I put into the projects.
Lock Haven always makes sure there's something for it's students to pursue!
LOVE IT HERE!!

A BEAUTIFUL day in Lock Haven :)

Hi there :)
It was a beautiful day in Lock Haven today! The temperature was about 65-70, and that brought all of the students outside, running on the levee, walking through campus with friends, laying out on the lawn, and playing tennis on the courts. A group of my friends got together and played beach volleyball outside of the rec center, blared music, and grilled-- practically a tailgate party! It was a fun time! My life is still as hectic as ever, but with the weather becoming nicer, I'm going to make sure I find time to still have fun. But, now for me, the fun is over... I'm in the library about to start studying for a big Physics test that I have tomorrow morning. I got a packet of information today for graduate school (Physician Assistant) in Pittsburgh, and I've been filling out paperwork for that. I also have a biochem assignment due tomorrow, and a group meeting with my Theatre group tonight in the library as well.
Check back for my next post :)
Enjoy the sunny day!

First Week of April

Hi again :)
The first week of April seems to always be a very busy week. I had a biochemistry exam, a huge biochemistry lab report, a physics lab report, a theatre paper, an introduction to disease poster and an introduction to disease presentation-- all in one week! That's not going to be your typical week, but there are times that you'll have crazy weeks! Even though it was extremely busy, I still managed to "enjoy" it and have a fun time!!
Right now, the theatre department on campus is putting on the spring production, Seussical. It runs for two weekends, last weekend as well as this coming weekend. I went on opening night with a group of friends, and it was a lot of fun! The theatre group on campus does a great job with designing the sets, costumes, etc. The actors are also really good, and it's fun to watch some of your friends get on stage. One piece of advice I have to incoming students is enjoy all of the on-campus entertainment. It's fun AND it's free!! To me, those are two great reasons to go!
We also have the spring concert, Gym Class Heroes, coming to LHU on April 19. I am currently organizing a huge community service event called Sleepout for Homelessness, which is being held overnight from April 19-20 in downtown Lock Haven. It should be a fun time, and all the donations and proceeds collected will be donated to local animal shelters. YAY :)
Well, I have to head to class, so keep checking back for my next post! See ya!

Week back from spring break

Hi everyone!
We just came back to our first week of classes after a nice, two-week long spring break. During spring break a lot of my friends went to Florida. Others headed north to go on ski/snowboarding trips. I went to Florida to visit my fiance and my puppy. I'm getting married in June, so we had a lot of wedding planning to do. I also injured my knee, so needless to say, I didn't have too relaxing of a "break".
I'm happy to be back at the Haven now though! Classes are back into full swing, and I have a Physics test tomorrow-- what a great way to be welcomed back! haha... Yesterday, my honors fraternity did a community service event at the kids community center in town. It's a great place to earn some service hours as there are always fun events to participate in. We had an Easter Extravaganza with the kids. We had live goats and rabbits for them to play with, and we also had face painting (which I did), made picture frames, had relay races, and more. It was a good time, and it was fun hanging out with all my friends there at the same time!
Today, I had Intro to Disease at 8am, then I came back to my apartment and relaxed, watched Ellen, and then went to the bank. I ate a quick lunch and went to work. I work on campus at Admission. At 2pm, I went to biochemistry lab. Usually I'm there until 5, but we got out early today. My partner and I were out of there at 3:30 (Sweet!!) At 5pm, I'm meeting with my little, Sam. I act as her mentor in Phi Sigma Pi honors fraternity. We're going to cook dinner together and plan a community service event called Sleep Out for Homelessness, which occurs once every semester. Around 6:30, I have to go to work at Admissions for the online chat session. If you have any questions about Lock Haven, I encourage you to check it out through www.lhup.edu. Students will be online for you to get answers to all of your questions. After work, I'll be coming home to study for Physics.
I'm involved in a lot of things on campus, so I'll have a lot to talk about on here!! Be sure to check back often to read the blogs! See ya!
