Brewfest

Hi All.
Brewfest took place this past weekend in downtown Burlington, which always means delicious refreshments (if you're of age), networking with local VT Breweries, and a night down by the waterfront. The weather was less than amazing during the first round on Friday but by Saturday the storm clouds had cleared and the lawn was filled with hundreds of tourists and locals alike. Although most of the fun during Fest is had by those who can indulge in the deliciousness that is Vt beer, minors can take an active part and pursue the opportunity to network with local business owners and absorb the musical stylings of a variety of artists.

Next weekend will most likely be spent working and heading to First Night at Higher Ground, a monthly event that can be enjoyed by any age group. The DJ is always on point and the dancing extends to the wee hours of the morning. If you attend a school in B-town, staying up to date with the Higher Ground calendar is crucial to expanding your social scene, catching great shows for cheap, and tapping into the VT music scene.

Other than that, not much new on this end, I'll keep ya posted with any interesting developments, next weekend promises to bring several. Til next time readers.

The sun finally makes an appearance

The sun finally came out the other day and a few friends and I decided to hit up North Beach for some swimming and BBQ. It was so crowded because when the sun decides to show its face around here everyone skips out on any responsibilities they have throughout the day and scampers off to play. We stayed there for a few hours and met up with some UVMers for some touch football then snuck off to Al's for the best Cremees (aka soft serve) in the entire state of Vermont.

Tonight will most likely be filled with fireworks and 4th festivities downtown, which is always a guaranteed good time. I'll let you know how the night pans out.

Happy fourth of July!

Crummy Weather

Lately the weather in Btown has been less perfect and I've been forced to find some indoor alternatives with which to occupy my time. My friends and I have recently discovered some of the varying forms of entertainment that do not involve the Vermont wilderness or Church St. Last week some of us attended a few fitness courses at the local YMCA and took advantage of the pool and basketball courts for a little one on one. Afterwards we totally disregarded our work out routine and went to Moe's, possibly the best burrito joint on the planet, and consumed our body weight in Mexican food. While the crummy weather continued, we all ventured around town seeking something to alleviate us of the rainy day blues and of course that led us to Ben and Jerrys where the four of us shared a Vermonster...something one attending school in Burlington should definitely consume before their four years is up.

Other than that, things have been pretty quiet around here, just working and fulfilling my RA duties. Next weekend, if all goes to plan, should consist of a trip up to Montreal where we will mostly take part in the Saint Catherine St. festivities and possibly some sight seeing. I will be sure to keep you all posted and hopefully get some pics up here soon. Til next time!

Grande Isle Weekend

I just got back from a weekend camping trip in Grande Isle Vermont, which is about 30 minutes from B-town. A few friends and I packed up the gear and headed north this past Friday and spent two days "roughing it" in the wilderness of Vermont. We hung out on the beach, chatted by the fire, and played a countless number of games while discussing our post graduation plans. It was the first camping trip I've gone on in Vt. and would do it again in a heartbeat. The weather was phenominal with the exception of a few showers and I've returned with some color and a newfound appreciation for the environment around me. We've already begun discussing some solid plans for another venture up north and possibly Canada in the upcoming months.

This week will primarily be about work and catching up on some material for Include. As amazing as the summers here are, they always seem to fly by and before you know it you're back in the classroom longing for 90 degree weather and careless weekends with friends. I'll post some pictures as soon as I upload them and perhaps share my plans for the next adventure.

Life at Spinner

Hey there,
Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and get this blog rolling. My name is Lindsay and I am currently enjoying my second summer in B-town and loving every minute of it. Despite the recent rainy weather, I've had the chance to spend some time outdoors and wander aimlessly around Church St. and the waterfront, both of which contain scenery that never ceases to amaze me. I've also been spending a lot of time enjoying the downtown night life which is always jam packed with music, food, and people from every walk of life. I'm really looking forward to this weekend which will most likely be spent dancing at Higher Ground during First Friday, bouncing from house warming party to house warming party, and possibly North Beach depending on the weather. On duty tonight as a Residential Assistant at Spinner Place so the rest of the day should be pretty mellow, just catching up on some work and spending some face time with my residents. That's all for now, hopefully I'll have an adventure or two to share next time.
